Graphic design: the world of marine invertebrates

A project of the Senckenberg Ocean Species Alliance (SOSA)

The oceans are teeming with creatures, most of which are invertebrates, i.e. animals without a vertebral column. They include, for example, squid, mussels, jellyfish and crabs. Although these fascinating organisms make up around 91% of all marine animals, they are still largely unknown. As an estimated 90% of invertebrates have not yet been described, they also have no names. However, climate change and other human-induced environmental influences are not sparing the oceans. As a result, animals are becoming extinct before we have ever seen them. Although marine invertebrates clearly predominate in their numbers, they are neglected in international conservation measures.

SOSA is a new project that promotes the description of invertebrates and assesses them on the IUCN Red List. In addition, we want to share our fascination for invertebrates with the general public and raise the awareness for marine conservation.

We want to inspire people for our mission with fascinating images and easy-to-understand graphics. We are urgently looking for support for the creation of various print and digital media, such as flyers, stickers and presentations.

Experience in graphic design or media design, proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and good English skills are required.
